What is the meaning of the Irish name 'Siobhan'?

A question for all those Irish people out there!

What is the meaning of the Irish name 'Siobhan'?
Don't know but , i do know a old Irish song called Siobhan your knickers the farmer is coming
Reply:It is a Irish, female name meaning "gracious".
Reply:It means "God is Gracious" and its pronounced Shi-Vawn. I should know this, it is my name.
Reply:It's the Irish for Joan or Joanne. In southern Ireland it's pronounced Shivawn while in the north it's more like Shuwan - same spelling.
