Does anyone no the name of the irish game that you play in ireland, which is a bit like football/ rugby?

Gaelic Football. Gaelic football is played by teams of 15 on a rectangular grass pitch with H-shaped goals at each end. The primary object is to score by kicking/striking the ball with your hand and getting it through the goals. The team with the highest score at the end of the match wins.

Players advance the ball up the field with a combination of carrying, soloing (dropping and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands), kicking, and hand-passing to their team-mates.

it called gaelic football and is known as gaelic games. the two gaelic games are gaelic football and hurling (played with sticks known as slitoirs ) and leading body is the g.a.a. or gaelic athletic association

croke park is the gaelic games headquarters where ireland temporarily are allowed by the g.a.a. to play while landsdowne is re-constructed
Reply:Its called Gaelic football. It is similar in some respects to soccer ( football or whatever you want to call it ) and rugby. Its 15 v 15 with mostly set formations. In tatical terms it would be a 1-3-3-2-3-3 formation. Players are allowed to catch the ball and advance up the picth by running with the ball in hand but they must solo ( kick the ball back to themselves ) or hop ( bounce the ball similar to basketball) every 3 steps however a player may not hop the ball twice in a row. Scoring is done by kicking or fisting ( hitting the ball off one hand with the other using a closed fist usually, a player is not allowed to throw the ball) the ball between the posts ( similar to rugby posts but with a net below crossbar ) and above the crossbar which gives them 1 point or by kicking the ball past the goalkeeper into the net which gives them a goal worth 3 points ( a goal may also be scored with the fist but it must be off a pass from another player and the player fisting the ball to the net may not catch it in between )

Reply:Gaelic football, a bit like Australian football, very few rules, have to run and kick the ball while running and kick to score!
