Is it proper to raise the c in Irish names when printing your name? example McManus?
Only on tuesdays.
Reply:I guess not because my keyboard won't raise a lowercase "c".
Reply:yeah
Reply:The exact and absolutely correct way is Mac Manus.

Mac meaning "Son of", ie Son of Manus.

Pronounced "Mac Manus"

But most people, either in UK/Ireland or the US of A,

have chosen to use this format, "McManus".

Other examples of names with a MAC are,

McCarthy,

McCarren,

McCreevy.
