Reply:Not to be hostile.. but please, don't go by whether or not a surname is "supposed" to be of any certain country.


Look for Elizabeth in available historical records. Since you did not give any date or locality, it is almost impossible to know which those might be.


On the assumption she is in US census records (which are accessible from 1790-1930, no 1890 it burned).. that will tell you where she was born, and if 1880 or later, it will also show where her PARENTS were born. Yes, it can have errors.


Until you have accumulated some concrete records, you don't know that your Elizabeth Sheely came from Ireland at all. It would just be guessing, which is a major waste of your energy. You have to have name(s) and dates before you even attempt looking overseas.

They just want to sell you something. Not everyone with the same surname is necessarily related in any way. They are shams.
