What is the irish spelling of the name Ryan or is it Ryon?

which spelling do you prefer, i am swayed more towards Ryon as it is more original. But which is the irish spelling?

What is the irish spelling of the name Ryan or is it Ryon?
Hi,

It is spelt Ryan here. It has a Gaelic and English Origin and means Little King.

The name Ryan is derived from an Irish Surname.

Another form of the name is Rian, pronounced RIE an.

So either of these ways is fine, Ryon is not a recognised way of spelling Ryan.

Reply:Ryan is the appropriate spelling for the name. Hoping you're considering it for a BOY since it means "little king."
Reply:Ryan is the Irish spelling.

Ryan Patrick

Ryan Jack

Ryan Quinn
Reply:RYAN

Gender: Masculine %26amp; Feminine

Usage: Irish, English

Pronounced: RIE-an [key]

From an Irish surname which was derived from 脫 Riain meaning "descendent of Rian". The given name Rian probably means "little king" (from Irish r铆 "king" combined with a diminutive suffix).

Names related to this name are

Rian

Ryana

Ryanne

Which are all english names.

Congrats and Good Luck!
Reply:The Irish spelling of that name is Ryan. It is a family name here, but I realise that in the US family names are often used as first names as well.
Reply:Ryan but theres also Rhian or rhien x
Reply:Ryan is really a surname in Ireland which becane popular as a first name in USA and then ironically evenetually filtered back here in the 1980s, actor Ryan O'Neal was the reason for its popularity and its still goig strong.
Reply:Ryan!
Reply:Ryan is actually a surname in Ireland. I have never even heard of the name Ryon. The Gaelic for the surname Ryan is O'Maoilriain, and this means king. I think Ryan is a brilliant name especially when you see the meaning. The only thing about the name Ryon is that it has no meaning. Why don't you look up some irish websites and they will give you irish names and the legends behind them.
Reply:the proper way of spelling it is Ryan, the name Ryon is ment to be pronounced Ron apparently according to a baby name website I looked up

if you like original how about Ryen,Ryun,Rian,Rien? I really dont like it spelled Ryon
Reply:Its defiantly Ryan.

I am welsh and there is a little boy in my son's school called Reian.

Ryon is a respelling or mispelling of Ryan, Ryan is the accepted anglicisation of the Irish Gaelic name Rian.
