Caoimhe. It's pronounced 'kee-va' and it means 'beautiful'.
I was just browsing a name site, and I can across this name for a girl. What do you think?
State your mind, by all means, but please don't be rude!
Note: I'm not pregnant, nor considering this name- I'm just looking for opinions, because I'm not really sure what I think of it.
What do you think of this Irish girl name?
I think it's gorgeous. It's a shame how many people don't understand the pronunciations of Irish names, like Siobhan (pronounced Sha-von). I have kind of an Irish name fetish :)
Reply:Well, since I'm half Irish, I am kind of torn on what to think. I would absolutely never choose this lovely name for my children, but, I like it because it's apart of my ancestry. In fact, my grandma's name was Caoimhe. We called her Kee-Kee. It brings back wonderful memories. LOL. In a nutshell, I guess I like it.

I look like my Papa- he's hispanic, and moved here from spain when he was 12.
Reply:Weird, a bit like Siobhan (shi-vorn), another Irish name. The pronounciation is pretty and I like the meaning. Lots of people will probably mispronounce it if you don't live in Ireland. A nice name combination: Caoimhe Isabelle (Beautiful beautiful).
Reply:It's a nice name, with a nice meaning, but I guarantee that 99% of people wouldn't have a clue on how to pronounce it.
Maybe if you changed the spelling. Because honestly, if I saw that word out of the blue, I'd pronounce it "kuh-oy-me".
Reply:I love it! However, if you are living in North America or any other modern world pretty much no one is going to pronounce it right. How about spelling it how it sounds? Keeva? You might also like Aisling or Kinsley.

Reply:I like the pronunciation and name but I would change the spelling because it would be confusing for people
Reply:I think it's very unique. I also like the name Ciearan - keer-un.
Reply:pretty!
Reply:It is a beautiful name. But if you do live in US, more than likely, it will get butchered.
